Based in Des Moines, Iowa (with an office in Washington, DC), NPPC represents 42 affiliated state associations that promote pork (there are 60,000 pork producers with Smithfield being the largest, that raise and slaughter about 120 million hogs annually – about 1 hog for every 3 people in the US). Sentara Hospitals is part of the integrated healthcare system referred to as “Sentara Healthcare.” A non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) (3), Sentara Hospitals reports the financial and other information of seven hospitals in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Sentara Healthcare is a healthcare system with more than 28,000 employees who work at more than 300 sites of care including 12 hospitals and 4 medical groups in Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. In addition, Sentara includes Optima Health, a health insurance provider for more than 500,000 people in Virginia and Ohio.
Although Sentara Healthcare generally refers to one organization, Sentara Healthcare includes dozens of organizations. For the purpose of this post, the executive compensation at Sentara Healthcare, a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) based in Norfolk, Virginia that employs the CEO and President and supporting staff is addressed. CareAlliance Health Services is a South Carolina tax-exempt, non-profit 501 (c) (3) doing business as Roper St. Francis Healthcare (RSFH).
Established in 1998, the Roper St Francis Healthcare system is actually several non-profit organizations (see Schedule R of the Form 990, the link of which is at the end of this post) that include hospitals (4) and other entities.
This post addresses the executive compensation at RSFH, the management and oversight entity of related/affiliated hospitals and healthcare subsidiaries. How Revenue is Spent at the American Legion
The American Legion is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) (19) – a veteran’s organization permitted to conduct social and welfare activities for its members. Established more than 100 years ago, at the end of WWI, the American Legion has about 1.8 million members. The organization is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana and is organized into 55 departments, one for each of the 50 states along with DC, Puerto Rico, Dance, Mexico, and the PHillipines.
There are two types of membership: regular active and paid up for life. Regular Active membership dues vary (but are about $40 annually) because each post determines their own dues rate. However, if a veteran joins through the Legion headquarters, a special introductory rate is provided and the new member is assigned to the post in which state he/she resides.
