The US Soccer Federation (USSF) is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Recognized as the official governing body of soccer in the US, the USSF itself is governed by a Board of Directors (15, the majority of whom are male) and the by-laws and policies adopted by the Board of Directors and the National Council (the representative membership body of the USSF).
There are two national teams: the US Mens National Team (USMNT) and the US Women’s National Team (USWNT). In March, 2019, the members of the USWNT filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against the USSF in the US District Court, which is currently on appeal. Read more
