22 of the most highly compensated employees of Stanford University (a private research university with about 18,000 students (8,000 undergrads and 10,000 graduate and medical students) in Redwood City, California.  With 30 trustees, 27 of whom are independent, although the most recent Form 990 (2023 for the year ending 8/31/24 lists 35 trustees (due to timing differences), Stanford is considered one of the best universities in the country) in 2024 took home $233 million in compensation from 2017-2024 (note:  highly compensated employees in any of the years 2017-2023 but not in 2024 are not included – for example, David Shaw, the former Director of Football received $44 million in compensation from 2017-2023 although he left Stanford in 2022):
