Executive Compensation at the National Federation of Independent Business (2022)

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501 (c) 6 is a Chamber of Commerce of sorts for small and independent businesses across the country.

Based in Nashville, TN, NFIB is managed by 11 voting members (directors) of the governing body, 10 of whom are independent,  9 (82%) of whom are male while 2 (18%) are female.

In 2022, total revenue was reported to be $106 million, most of which came from membership dues ($98 million). With an estimated 325,000 members, annual dues appear to be about $300 but the website allows a one-time in line membership for $195, while also listing a recommend “investment” of $395 – $15,000 based on the number of employees.

Expenses totaled $95 million in 2022 with the largest expenses reported to be compensation ($71 million), office-related expenses ($10 million), travel and conferences ($5 million) and fees for services ($5 million).  815 employees received $71 million in compensation (an average of 87,000).  233 employees received more than $100,000 in compensation with the 16 most highly compensated reported to be:
