Executive Compensation at the National Geographic Society (2023)

The National Geographic Society (NGS) is a tax-exempt non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization based in Washington, DC that primarily relies on investment income (gains on the sale of investments, dividends, interest, etc), royalties, and contributions for revenue.

With $1.5 billion in net assets (down $250 million from 2021 due to unrealized losses on investments in 2021 that were partially offset by gains in 2023), NGS has the ability to rely on these resources to keep their programs going when contributions, gifts, and grants (roughly $20-$90 million annually) are not enough, and when revenue greatly decreases due to unforeseen circumstances, like the pandemic in 2020. Executive Compensation at Turning Point USA (2024)

Turning Point USA is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501 (c) 3 that advocates conservative principles on high school, college, and university campuses and in convention centers that focus on attracting high schoolers, college students, and young adults ages 15-25 who they often refer to as activists.

Established in 2012 by the late Charles Kirk, Turning Point USA has three (3) related tax exempt organizations:

  • Turning Point Endowment, Inc.:  a 501 (c) 3 described as a “supporting org to Turning Point USA”

40 employees of RWJ Barnabas Health (one of the largest integrated health care providers in New Jersey with 42 tax-exempt non-profit organizations, 36 organizations taxed as partnerships, and 18 organizations taxed as a corporation or trust.  Formed in 2016 when the Saint Barnabas Health Network merged with the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network, RJW Barnabas Health with its 43,000 employees at 15 hospitals and 700 patient care locations serves about 5 million people throughout New Jersey with a concentration in the central and northern part of the state) took home $200 million in compensation between 2019-2023 (note:  highly compensated employees in any of the years 2019-2022 but not in 2023 are not included – i.e. Barry Ostrowsky who received $38 million in compensation from 2019-2022): Read more »
