Executive Compensation at America’s Health Insurance Plans, Inc (2023)

AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans, Inc) is one of those non-profits that most people haven’t heard of outside the healthcare lobbying world because the tax-exempt, non-profit organization is a 501 (c) 6 – a trade organization – whose members are health care insurance coverage providers  (insurance companies) who claim the organization is “committed to market-based solutions and public-private partnerships that make high quality coverage and care more affordable, accessible, and equitable for everyone.”  Sounds noble but I don’t know anyone who feels high quality care and coverage is affordable, accessible, and equitable for everyone. Executive Compensation at America’s Health Insurance Plans, Inc (2022)

America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501 (c) 6 – a trade organization – representing health insurance companies that profit coverage through employers, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care, and open market plans that provide individual coverage.

A political advocacy group to represent health insurer’s best interests AHIP has been in the news recently because insurers are balking at consumer demand for more transparency on claim denials and health coverage.  Given that people paying premiums to the insurance companies ultimately fund membership in AHIP, they have a point.

AHIP is overseen by 33 voting members of the governing body, 32 of whom are independent.  27 of the 33 (82%) board members are male while 6 (18%) are female. Read more »

Executive Compensation at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) 2021

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is considered by many to be the leading conservation organization in the world. Established nearly 60 years ago in 1960, the WWF is based in Washington, DC but operates all over the world (in more than 100 countries with 556 staff in 29 foreign offices and 95 at headquarters).

There are 25 voting members (directors) on the governing body (board of directors), 24 of whom are independent.  The Form 990 (2020) lists 27 board members (which appears to be due to timing differences), 18 (67%) of whom are male while 9 (33%) are female (note: the form 990 does not report gender identity. Conclusions were made based on name and google searches). Read more »
