Organic Superfood Cereal

Vigilant Eats makes a unique product:  Organic Superfood Cereal – a gluten-free dry cereal that contains no dairy, soy, refined sugar, additives or preservatives.  Organic Superfood Cereal does contain oats, oat flour, goji berries, cacao nibs, hemp flour, coconut palm sugar, yacon (a sweet tasting root plant) powder, maple powder, and cinnamon.  Sold in 3 ounce cups (with a small foldable spoon on the inside), Superfood is, for lack of a better word super convenient. Just add cold water or milk and stir and you have a high-protein, low-glycemic, nutrient dense cereal that tastes terrific. Actually, it tastes better than terrific…it’s totally delicious.

Since 2007, Doug Siegel started making his own breakfast cereal with oats, goji berries, cacao nibs, cinnamon, and natural sweeteners including coconut palm sugar which his friends use to call “Doug’s Daily Dose.” Doug convinced his friends to eat his cereal and they encouraged him to sell his delicious concoction to the world and thus, Organic Superfood Cereal was born.

Certified organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, and vegan, the cereal is not only healthy and good for you, but it tastes great and is easy to take along anywhere. For a person that carries a zip-lock bag filled with rolled oats and a separate bag of granola in her purse, this cereal is a great alternative (and I don’t have to worry about finding a plastic spoon because one is included in the bright orange container).  Simply peel back the cover, remove the spoon, add cold water or milk up to the marked line, stir, and enjoy. It’s that simple.

One of the many aspects that sold me on the Superfood cereal is the high protein content. Each 3 ounce cup contains 11 grams of protein along with 51 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of dietary fiber, 6 grams of sugar, and 7 grams of fat (most of which is not saturated).
