by Anne Paddock

McDougall’s Right Foods is a California-based family business committed to making delicious, convenient, and natural food products that are also healthy, affordable, low in fat, completely plant-based, and sustainably packaged. Certified non-GMO,  organic, vegan, and gluten-free, McDougall’s Organic Superfood Hot Cereal Variety Pack contains two varieties of breakfast (or snack) food that have a foundation of oats:

Mega Omega:  Made with organic gluten-free thick cut old-fashioned rolled oats, organic milled flax seed, organic chia seeds, organic pumpkin seeds, organic quinoa, and organic cinnamon.

Chia Crunch: Made with organic gluten-free thick cut old-fashioned rolled oat, organic buckwheat, organic chia seeds, and organic quinoa.

With no sugar added, these ready-to-prepare hot cereals are super nutritious with 1 packet containing 140-160 calories, 4-5 grams of protein, 5-6 grams of fiber, 3-5 grams of fat, and zero grams of sugar, sodium, and cholesterol.

To prepare, simply bring 2/3 cup of water or your favorite non-dairy milk (Milkadamia adds a creamy richness) into a pan and bring to a boil. Empty the packet into the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour into a bowl and top with more cinnamon, berries, bananas, dried fruit, seeds, and/or nuts. The contents of the packet can also be microwaved on high for about 2 minutes. Let the cereal stand for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy.

These packets are fantastic to take when traveling. Easy, convenient, and so delicious, Dr. McDougall’s Organic Superfood Hot Cereal Variety Pack are a great alternative to hotel breakfast bars packed with unhealthy options.

Each box contains 4 single serving packets (38 grams each) and can be purchased at Whole Foods Markets for $3.49 or on-line through the company website:

The hot cereals can also be purchased in boxes containing a single variety:  Mega Omega or Chia Crunch.
