Mama Jess Organic Pasta Sauces

by Anne Paddock

There’s a new sauce on the market that warrants attention and is about to turn people’s idea of pasta (and enchilada) sauce in a new healthier direction. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free with no sugar added, no artificial flavors or colors, and no high fructose corn syrup, Mama Jess makes three organic pasta sauces that are delicious and wholesome:

Garden_GoodGarden Good:  A tasty blend of vegetables and spices makes a sauce that is low in fat and high in vitamin A. Ingredients include organic tomato puree, organic carrots, organic sweet potato juice, organic onion, organic olive oil, organic red bell pepper, garlic, sea salt, organic spices (basil, oregano, fennel, black pepper), and citric acid. Mama Jess says “We took the back yard and put it in the jar.”

Bean Good: A tomato and white bean based sauce that is low in fat and high in fiber and protein. Ingredients include organic tomato puree, organic bean puree, organic onion, organic olive oil, organic garlic, sea salt, citric acid, and organic spices (basil, oregano, fennel).

Bean_GoodBien Good:  Ingredients include organic tomato puree, organic bean puree, organic corn, organic sweet potato juice, organic onion, organic dried red chile peppers, organic red bell peppers, organic olive oil, sea salt, organic garlic, organic spices, and citric acid. A sauce that can be used to make enchiladas, burritos, and other Mexican dishes. Low in fat and high in fiber and protein.

Jessica Grelle, “Chief Mama” of Mama Jess decided to create healthy organic sauces made with vegetables when her young children stopped eating carrots. To get more vegetables into her children’s diet, Jessica pureed organic carrots and sweet potatoes adding these vegetables to her tomato sauces while making sure the sauces were smooth and delicious, especially to children who can be sensitive to texture and flavors. But the sauces are not limited to children as adults love them too.

Bien_GoodThe sauces come in 24-ounce jars and can be purchased on-line at Abe’s Market for $7 per jar, with free shipping until the end of the year. For more information on Mama Jess Pasta Sauces or information on where the sauces can be purchased locally, see the company website listed below.
