The Servus Northerner Series Boot

by Anne Paddock

Whether you wear boots to walk in the rain, work in a garden or to simply protect your feet from the cold and muddy elements, there’s one boot that does it all: the Servus Northerner Series Boot. Never heard of it? Neither did I until a few years ago when I bought a pair in a vet’s office in a small town in central Iowa.

Back then, I needed a pair of durable boots to navigate the fields and muddy roads of a farm and didn’t want a pair of boots that looked like they came from the children’s shoe department at Target. What I found was a boot that turned out to be great looking, comfortable, and durable….. and yet outside of the midwest farming community, many people haven’t heard of them.

Servus_Northerner_Series_BootServus makes a variety of multi-purpose boots including the Northerner Series Boot: a slip-on multi-purpose non-insulated knee boot that is durable, 100% waterproof, and great for long-wearing support and traction on slick surfaces. The heel is molded for less slippage and the center sole is cushioned making for a comfortable boot that is easy to slide on and off.Northerner_Boot_Navy

Made in the USA (by Honeywell) in four colors (olive, grey, brown, and navy), the Northerner Series Boots sell for $30-$40 per pair. Navy is only made in women’s sizes 5-11 while the other three colors are made in men’s whole sizes 3-15 (I wear a women’s size 10 and purchased a men’s size 8 which fit perfectly) so order two sizes down in a mens boot for a woman.Northerner_Series_Boots_Grey

The company also makes a Northerner Series Rain Boot (to the calf) in black, blue and red for children (whole sizes 8-13), youths (whole sizes 1-5), and young adults (whole sizes 6-9) for about $20-$25. 76004_li

The boots can be purchased nationwide at Campmor, farm and outdoor supply stores, and can be purchased on-line at,,,, and other on-line outdoor supply retailers.
