Bruschettini

Bruschetta is one of those hors d’oeuvres that is loved by many but made by few because there are three aspects to this tasty tidbit which require planning and time:
- Having a baguette or Italian toasts on hand;
- The topping (which is easily made with chopped tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, fresh basil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper);
- Bruschetta must be served and consumed promptly or the toasts get soggy.
Although the topping is easy to make (see almost any cookbook or on-line recipe site), having the baguette or toasts on hand has always been a challenge for me. Most people don’t have a baguette in the kitchen (after all, this isn’t Paris) so the next best thing is pre-made snack size Italian bruschetta toasts made with wholesome ingredients. Most store-bought bruschetta toasts have an ingredients list with additives so when I discovered Asturi Bruschettini, my problem was solved.
Asturi Bruschettini are snack size Italian Bruschetta Toasts made with non-GMO products (unbleached wheat flour, durum wheat semolina, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, yeast, barley and corn malt extract, sugar, rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic, parsley, and olives). Made in five varieties, the Bruschettini are also perfectly sized for an hors d’oeuvres (if you’ve ever bitten into a bruschetta and experienced the toast cracking and the topping falling off, you’ll appreciate the small-sized cracker):
- Classico Virgin Olive Oil
- Rosemary and Olive Oil
- Garlic and Parsley
- Cracked Black Pepper
- Black and Green Olives
Simply open the bag and spoon fresh or store-bought bruschetta on top of the toast. Bruschettini are also perfect for other spreads and toppings and make for a great appetizer.
Each 4.23 ounce bag (120 grams) contains approximately 50 crackers and sells for about $3.29 per bag. Purchase at grocery stores (Fresh Market, Walmart) nationwide or on-line through www.yummybazaar.com, www.vitacost.com, and www.amazon.com.
