Finger Lakes Fresh Multigrain Tortillas

by Anne Paddock

Tortillas are one of those products that always look healthy and delicious sitting on the grocery store shelves but sometimes fall short in the ingredient department. Not so with Finger Lakes Fresh Multigrain Tortillas which are made from a blend of locally grown grains. All natural with no preservatives, dough relaxers, or added sugar, these delicious tortillas are ideal to use for wraps, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, chips, tortilla bowls, and as a crust for pizza. Simply bring to room temperature (from the refrigerator) to easily separate the tortillas.

Finger_Lakes_Multigrain_TortillasFinger Lakes Fresh Multigrain Tortillas are made with organic wheat flour, water, organic whole wheat flour, organic cornmeal, organic rye flour, organic spelt flour, canola oil, salt, and baking powder by the Finger Lakes Fresh Food Hub – a division of Challenge Workforce Solutions – a non-profit agency that uses a workforce of employees with disabilities and other employment barriers under the mantra: local food, local jobs, local people.

The tortillas come in two (2) sizes:  10 inches and 6 inches. Each 10 inch tortilla (2.7 ounces) has 210 calories with 6 grams of protein, 3 grams of dietary fiber, 0 grams of sugar, 3.5 grams of fat, and 320 mg of sodium. The 6-inch tortilla (1 ounces) has 2 grams of protein, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 0 grams of sugar, 1 gram of fat, and 115 mg of sodium.

The tortillas are available throughout the state of New York  in grocery and health food stores/coops, including Wegman’s and the Whole Foods Market in Brooklyn for about $2.99 per package. To find a store, use the company locator:  www.fingerlakesfresh.com.
