Parma Zaan Sprinkles

by Anne Paddock

Parma Zaan Sprinkles are an almond-based vegan substitute for parmesan cheese. Dairy-free with all natural ingredients and no artificial anything, Parma Zaan Sprinkles is also notable for containing no hydrogenated fats or refined sugar. Made with five ingredients: blanched almond meal, sea salt, nutritional yeast, dehydrated onion, and citric acid, Parma Zaan Sprinkles provide the nutty, cheesy flavor we all love without the dairy.

Made by Vegetarian Express (based out of Huntersville, NC – about 15 miles north of Charlotte), Parma Zaan Sprinkles offer a healthy alternative to parmesan cheese. Use on spaghetti and other pastas, pizza, bruschetta, salads, popcorn, and any recipe including focaccia and risotto that call for parmesan cheese.

A 6 ounce refillable container of Parma Zaan Sprinkles can be purchased on-line at the company website (www.thevegetarianexpress.com) for $6.99  A 16-ounce packet can also be purchased for $11.79 at the same website.
