Caveman Cookies

by Anne Paddock

Caveman Cookies are not for cavemen or women but for people who want a gluten-free, all-natural cookie made without refined sugar or white flour, dairy products, eggs, and salt. Made with nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, brazil, coconut, macadamia, hazelnuts), seeds (pumpkin, chia), dried unsulfured fruit (raisins, cherries, cranberries), honey, maple syrup, carob (a legume), cacao, pure vanilla extract, pure peppermint extract, and spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, chili powder, pumpkin pie spice, cardamom, cayenne pepper, Caveman Cookies are a healthy alternative to most cookies sold in the cookie aisle of grocery stores.

Although the cookies were created with paleo diet followers in mind, you don’t have to be paleo to enjoy these cookies (I am not paleo).

Anyone who enjoys cookies made with real ingredients will savor these sweet, soft, and chewy cookies that come in 6 flavors and 1 seasonal option:

  • Original:   Raisin & Walnut
  • New World:  Pumpkin, Maple, & Cranberry
  • Rainforest:  Brazil Nut & Cherry
  • Alpine:  Hazelnut & Carob
  • Mayan:  Chocolate Chili & Chia
  • Tropical:  Coconut & Macadamia
  • North Pole:  Peppermint & Chocolate (seasonal)

Each cookie is individually wrapped and there are 8 cookies in each 4 ounce box.  Sold in grocery stores nationwide, Caveman Cookies sell for about $5-$6 per box, depending on the retailer. Consider buying on-line at www.vitacost.com where the cookies sell for $5.39 per box (with frequent promotions of 10-20% off plus free shipping for orders over $49) or directly from the company:  www.cavemancookies.com.

Tuck a few cookies into lunch boxes or backpacks for an afternoon snack that is wholesome and delicious or as the company says “just like your great, great, great, great, great…grandmother used to make!”
