Executive Compensation at Atlantic Health System

Atlantic Health System is a nonprofit healthcare system in New Jersey that includes five medical centers, a children’s hospital, a hospice and home care organization, rehabilitation center and 600 community-based providers from the affiliated Atlantic Medical Group.

The Atlantic Health System Group IRS Form 990 return (2016) reports the organization had 17,145 employees who were compensated $1.261 billion, which equates to an average compensation of $74,000.  2,266 employees received more than $100,000 in compensation with the 54 most highly compensated employees listed below:

36 of the 54 (67%) of the most highly compensated employees are male while 18 (33%) are female. 8 of the 10 most highly compensated employees are male while 2 are female.

The Form 990 also reports the organization paid for tax indemnification and gross up payments, health or social club dues or initiation fees, and other expenses including auto leases/auto allowances, life insurance premiums, long term disability premiums, financial planning services and health club membership fees for certain officers, directors and key employees.  Such payments made on behalf of these individuals are generally grossed up and inputed and included as taxable compensation in their respective W-2’s. The organization provided the following individuals with an auto allowance or an autolease during 2016:
