Lark Ellen Farms Granola
Lark Ellen Farms is leading the pack in redefining what granola is and can be. Instead of oats as a base, this California-based company uses organically grown and certified nuts and seeds and takes them through a process of sprouting (a soaking process) to help make the nutrients more easily absorbable when consumed. The sprouted nuts and seeds are mixed with other organic ingredients and then air dried at a low temperature to help keep the nutrient content intact.
Lark Ellen Farms makes 6 different varieties of granola (although 5 of the flavors are called “granola bites” and one flavor is called a “cereal” with the differentiation made based on the size of the finished product in the bag. The bites are larger but easily crumble while the cereal contains smaller, looser pieces).
Lark Ellen Farms Granola Bites and Cereal are:
- refined sugar-free
- low sugar (3-5 grams of sugar per serving)
The flavors are all made with an organic sprouted raw nut and seed mix (sprouted sunflower seeds, sprouted pumpkin seeds, sprouted almonds, sprouted walnuts, and sprouted cashews) and maple syrup, and include:
Berrylicious Granola Bites: Made with a sprouted raw nut and seed mix, maple syrup, mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries), unsweetened coconut, cherry juice, coconut oil, and sea salt. 4 grams of sugar per serving.Lemon Blueberry Granola Bites: Made with a sprouted raw nut and seed mix, blueberries, unsweetened coconut, maple syrup, lemon juice, unrefined coconut oil, hemp seeds, sea salt, ginger, vanilla and lemon zest. 4 grams of sugar per serving.
Cacao Cherry Granola Bites: Made with a sprouted raw nut and seed mix, maple syrup, unsulphured dried cherries, unsweetened coconut, cacao powder, chocolate (coconut sugar, chocolate liquor, and cocoa butter), coconut oil, and sea salt. 5 grams of sugar per serving.
Each 8-ounce packet of granola bites/cereal sells for about $9 per bag, 2 for $16, or 3 for $25 and can be purchased directly from the company at www.larkellenfarm.com, or through www.vitacost.com or http://www.amazon.com.
