BAKED Granola

by Anne Paddock

There are more than a hundred types of granola on the market and although I’ve never tasted a granola I didn’t like, there are only about a half-dozen that I can say I truly love:  BAKED Granola is one of them. Made by a bakery called BAKED in Brooklyn, New York, BAKED Granola is the go-to granola when I want a wholesome cereal made with all natural oats, grains, lots (and lots) of nuts and a hint of cinnamon (the House Blend). Delicious with milk but downright decadent on top of yogurt, BAKED Granola is a truly nutty, crunchy, delicious treat.

DSC_0059Created by Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito, BAKED Granola comes in three flavors:

House Blend:  The House Blend is made with whole rolled oats, almonds, hazelnuts, cherries with sugar, organic golden raisins, honey, brown sugar, canola oil, vanilla, and cinnamon. A crunchy blend of oats, nuts, and dried fruit with a hint of cinnamon, as pictured above.

Mountain Blend:  The Mountain Blend is made with whole rolled oats, honey, organic apricots, cranberries with sugar and sunflower oil, pumpkin seeds, brown sugar, canola oil, pecans, maple syrup, vanilla, natural maple flavor, and salt. A granola for those that love a granola with lots of dried fruit (without sulfates).

Chocolate Blend:  A chocolate lovers breakfast dream made with whole rolled oats, honey, canola oil, brown sugar, chocolate chips, dried blueberries with sugar, bananas, coconut, cocoa powder and vanilla.

Each granola variety comes in resealable 12 ounce plastic bags and are $6.50 per bag plus shipping through the company website listed below. The granola is also available nationwide in grocery stores and specialty food shops. And, if you’re ever in Brooklyn, stop in at BAKED and enjoy a fresh bowl of their homemade granola with chilled milk, yogurt, or in a parfait.
