The Better Bean Company
The Better Bean Company of Portland, Oregon (why are there so many cool food companies based out of Portland?) considers beans an essential part of fine and healthy cuisines but also realizes that most people don’t have hours to spend in the kitchen cooking beans and adding just the right amount of spices to take the beans from bland to delicious. So, they do it for you by making freshly prepared beans that rival the quality and flavor of the best home cooked or restaurant made beans.
All natural with no artificial ingredients, flavors, or preservatives, Better Beans are freshly prepared beans sourced from farmers in the northwest. Cooked with real ingredients – onions, tomatillo, yam, corn, squash, apple cider vinegar, safflower oil, garlic, lime juice, oregano, coriander, pepper, salt, and five types of peppers: Chipotle, Jalapeno, Serrano, Habanero and Poblano, Better Beans are profoundly delicious and satisfying as a dip, spread, or side dish.
There are five types of Better Bean products:
Rethought Red Beans: Skillet sautéed organic red beans with onions, tomatillo, and jalapeno, Rethought Red Beans are mild and perfect as a side dish with cornbread or to include in tacos, burritos, or any recipe that calls for refried beans.
Cuban Black Beans: The real thing: black beans sautéed with sofrito of onion, poblano pepper and spices make for a traditional mild accompaniment to cooked rice. Add some cooked plantains for a special treat. The Cuban Black Beans are also great as a dip or a filler for vegetarian tacos or burritos.
Uncanny Refried Black Beans: These beans combine the best of two traditional bean dishes: black beans and refried beans. Spicier than the Rethought Red Beans and the Cuban Black Beans, the Uncanny Refried Black Beans give a bit more heat to homemade tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos. Also a great dip with tortilla chips or as a spread on corn tortillas.
Wholly Chipotle Bean Dip: What a name…”wholly chipotle.” For those who like a medium heat bean dip, this is the one. A red bean dip that is also delicious on nachos or in any southwestern dish, Wholly Chipotle Bean Dip has the added bonus of fresh lime giving it just the right amount of tanginess.
Three Sisters Chili: A vegetarian (and vegan) chili made of primarily beans, corn, and squash (the three sisters), Three Sisters Chili is a mild heat, full flavored chili that can be eaten as a main course (with corn bread) or as a side dish.
