Froozer: Fruit in all its Glory

by Anne Paddock

It’s fruit, only cooler.

In the summertime, I crave cold refreshing snacks but I often leave the supermarket disappointed – and empty-handed – because there are so few options with no added sugar or with ingredients that I can’t pronounce. Until now.

Cool Frootz, LLC of Boulder, Colorado (why are so many cool food companies based in Colorado?) is the genius behind the Froozer:  a frozen snack made with 100% fruit: freshly harvested fruit picked when ripened that has been flash frozen and blended, carrots, and less than 1% of guar/acacia (a natural source of fiber that comes from the Acacia tree). Or in other words, a Froozer is a frozen smoothie.

The beauty of a Froozer is in the simplicity of it. Packaged in a tube (think of a Go-Gurt® without the dairy and other stuff), a Froozer has no added sugar, juice, or concentrate, and absolutely no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives.

Froozers come in four delicious flavors with four to six ingredients:

  • Strawbanana Bliss:  Made with grapes, strawberries, bananas, and guar/acacia.
  • Tropical Sunset:  Made with mangos, grapes, pineapple, bananas and guar/acacia.
  • Blue Aloha:  Made with pineapple, grapes, bananas, blueberries, carrots, and guar/acacia.
  • Orchard Cherry Berry:  Made with grapes, apples, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, and guar/acacia.

Certified non-GMO, natural, dairy-free, gluten-free, and kosher, a Froozer is a healthy snack for both big and little kids alike. Each serving of a Froozer is 2 ounces in an 8-inch tube. Simply tear the top across to open and push up the Froozer to enjoy. Each 12 ounce box has six Froozers that sells for approximately $4-$5 (depending on the retailer) in the freezer section at grocery stores nationwide. To locate  retailer, go to the company website:
