Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Bark

by Anne Paddock

One of the many traditions during the holiday season is to enjoy chocolate bark – a sheet of chocolate with nuts, dried fruits, pretzels, chips, or candy blended in.  Although peppermint bark is one of the most popular treats during the holiday season, chocolate hazelnut bark or chocolate bark made with roasted hazelnuts is growing in popularity because the hazelnut (also known as a filbert) is naturally sweet with a rich, nutty, and versatile flavor that goes well with dark chocolate.

EHChocolatier of Somerville, Massachusetts (just outside Boston) makes a truly magnificent Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Bark made with candied hazelnuts (made with hazelnuts and sugar) folded into 61% dark chocolate with a touch of fleur de sel (salt).  Creamy, rich, and crunchy, the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Bark contains no dairy products and is perfect in its simplicity.

Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Bark can be purchased on-line at EHChocolatier (www.ehchocolatier.com). The 7 ounce gift box is $22 (a beautifully wrapped box as illustrated below is a perfect holiday gift for the hostess) or a 4 ounce packet (rice bag) is $14 (illustrated above).
