Rawmantic Bars

If there is one product that has commanded more shelf space in recent years, it’s the energy/protein/snack bar.  From a one shelf allocation in the cookie aisle of grocery stores years ago to a partial grocery aisle today, bars have become the go-to supplement for millions of Americans.

Although bars are convenient, most of them have too much sugar and/or unhealthy ingredients, or just taste awful.  For me, it got to the point that the only time I packed a bar was if I was going for a hike or a road trip because the alternative was worse – no food or SAD (Standard American Diet) food.

My favorite is the Fitness Bar – a sugar-free, nutrient dense decadent bar enrobed in pure organic raw chocolate that is 98% raw and made with all organic ingredients:  almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, 100% dark chocolate chips, arrowroot, puffed buckwheat, tapioca, cacao butter, cacao powder, and raw chocolate protein powder made from peas, quinoa, chia seeds, and amaranth.  Every time I enjoy one of these bars, I feel like I’m eating a crunchy candy bar.  Each 2.2 ounce bar has 130 calories, 12 grams of fiber, 10 grams of protein, 8 grams of fat, 64 milligrams of sodium, and 0 grams of sugar.
